Description

The inferior gluteal line is a curved ridge found along the gluteal surface of ilium. It is the least distinct of the three gluteal lines, the other two being the anterior and posterior gluteal lines. It begins at the notch between the anterior superior and anterior inferior iliac spines, and then travels in a posteroinferior direction, curving slightly to end at the greater sciatic notch.

The region between the inferior gluteal line and acetabulum provides an origin site for the rectus femoris muscle, while the region between the inferior and anterior gluteal lines provides an origin site for the gluteus minimus muscle.
