Description

The inferior pubic ramus (inferior ramus of pubis) is the inferiorly located, flat bony bar that projects from the inferolateral aspect of the body of pubis. It is one of the two rami of the pubis, the other being the superior pubic ramus. From the body, it extends in a posteroinferior and lateral direction to fuse with the ischial ramus. Collectively, the inferior pubic ramus and ramus of ischium are known as the ischiopubic ramus, which forms the inferior margin of the obturator foramen. The right and left inferior pubic rami collectively form the pubic arch.

The inferior pubic ramus consists of:

—two surfaces (external and internal);

—two borders (medial and lateral).
