The internal surface (posteromedial surface) is the area on the posteromedial aspect of the inferior pubic ramus. It is one of the two surfaces of the inferior pubic ramus, the other being the external surface, and it is an area that is bounded:
—anteromedially, by the medial border of inferior pubic ramus;
—posterolaterally, by the lateral border of inferior pubic ramus.
Its superior end is continuous with the posterior surface of body of pubis, while its inferior end is continuous with the internal surface of ramus of ischium.
The internal surface of inferior pubic ramus provides an origin site for the obturator internus muscle.
