Description

The internal surface (posterior surface) of is the smooth area on the inner aspect of the ramus of ischium. It is one of the two surfaces of the ramus of ischium, the other being the external surface, and is an area that is bounded by the superior and inferior borders of ramus of ischium. Its anteromedial end is continuous with the internal surface of inferior pubic ramus, while its posterolateral end is continuous with the pelvic surface of body of ischium.

The internal surface of ramus of ischium provides attachment sites for the crus of penis in males, the crus of clitoris in females, and the external urethral sphincter muscle.
