Description

The lateral supracondylar line (lateral supracondylar ridge, lateral supracondyloid line, or lateral epicondyloid line) is the margin located along the lower posterolateral aspect of the body of femur. It is the more distinct of the two supracondylar lines, the other being the medial supracondylar line. It is the inferior continuation of the lateral lip of linea aspera, extends to the lateral condyle of femur, and separates the popliteal and lateral surfaces of femur.

The lateral supracondylar line provides an origin site for the plantaris muscle and short head of biceps femoris muscles.
