Description

The lateral supracondylar ridge (lateral supraepicondylar ridge or lateral supracondylar crest) is the sharp, prominent margin located along the lateral aspect of the distal end of the body of the humerus. It is the less curved of the two supracondylar ridges of the humerus, the other being the medial supracondylar ridge.

The lateral supracondylar ridge is the inferior continuation of the lateral border of the humerus and extends to the lateral epicondyle. It separates the distal ends of the anterolateral and posterior surfaces of the humerus.

The lateral supracondylar ridge provides an origin site for the brachioradialis and extensor carpi radialis longus muscles, as well as an attachment site for the lateral intermuscular septum of the arm.
