Description

The lateral surface of tibia is the smooth area found along the anterolateral aspect of the bone. It is one of the three surfaces of tibia, the other two being the medial and posterior surfaces, and is an area that is bounded:

—anteriorly, by the anterior border of tibia;

—posteriorly, by the interosseous (lateral) border of tibia.

The lateral surface of tibia provides an origin site for the tibialis anterior muscle.
