Description

The lateral tubercle of talus is the laterally located prominence found on the posterior process of talus. It is the larger of the two tubercles that make up the posterior process of talus, the other being the medial tubercle of talus. These two tubercles are separated from each other by the groove for tendon of flexor hallucis longus muscle.

The lateral tubercle of talus provides attachment sites for the posterior talocalcaneal and posterior talofibular ligaments.
