Description

The medial condyle of tibia (medial tibial condyle or internal condyle of tibia) is the medially located, round, articular eminence found on the proximal end of the tibia. It is the larger of the two articular condyles of the tibia, the other being the lateral condyle.

It articulates with the medial condyle of femur, via the medial meniscus, forming the medial femorotibial joint. Overall, the medial femorotibial, lateral femorotibial and patellofemoral joints collectively form the knee joint.

The medial condyle of tibia provides an insertion site for the semimembranosus muscle, and an attachment site for the medial patellar retinaculum.
