Description
The medial lip of linea aspera is the edge of the linea aspera that lies closer to the midline of the body. It is one of two lips of the linea aspera, the other being the lateral lip, both of which surround the intermediate zone of linea aspera. The medial lip is continuous:
—superiorly, with the spiral line;
—inferiorly, with the medial supracondylar line.
The medial lip of linea aspera provides an origin site for the vastus medialis muscle and an attachment site for the medial femoral intermuscular septum.
