Description

The medial process of calcaneal tuberosity is the rough, medially located projection found along the plantar surface of the calcaneus. It is the larger of the two processes that make up the calcaneal tuberosity, the other being the lateral process, and is the weight-bearing part of the bone.

The medial process of calcaneal tuberosity provides origin sites for the abductor hallucis, abductor digiti minimi and flexor digitorum brevis muscles. It also provides an attachment site for the plantar aponeurosis.
