Description

The medial surface of femur is the smooth area on the posteromedial aspect of the body of femur. It is one of the five surfaces of the body of femur, the other four being the anterior, lateral, posterior, and popliteal surfaces. It is an area that is bounded:

—anteriorly, by the medial border of femur;

—posteriorly, by the linea aspera;

—superiorly, by the intertrochanteric line;

—posterosuperiorly, by the spiral line;

—posteroinferiorly, by the medial supracondylar ridge.

The inferior end of the medial surface of femur is continuous with the medial condyle of femur.
