Palmar Surface of Capitate Bone

Description

The palmar surface is the rough, non-articular, anterior aspect of the capitate bone. It provides origin sites for the flexor pollicis brevis muscle and the oblique head of adductor pollicis muscle. It also provides attachment sites for the:

—ulnocapitate ligament;

—capitohamate ligament;

—triquetrocapitate ligament;

—radioscaphocapitate ligament;

—scaphocapitate ligament;

—palmar trapeziocapitate ligament;

—palmar carpometacarpal ligaments.
