Description

The plantar (inferior) surface is the lower aspect of the cuboid bone. It is one of the six surfaces of the cuboid bone, the other five being the dorsal, medial and lateral surfaces, and the proximal and distal articular surfaces.

The plantar surface of cuboid bone contains the tuberosity and part of the groove for tendon of fibularis longus muscle. It provides an origin site for the flexor hallucis brevis muscle and attachment sites for the:

- plantar calcaneocuboid ligament;

- plantar cuboideonavicular ligament;

- plantar tarsometatarsal ligament;

- long plantar ligament.
