Description

The plantar (inferior) surface is the rough, narrow area on the lower aspect of the intermediate cuneiform bone. It is one of the six surfaces of the intermediate cuneiform bone, the other five being the dorsal, medial and lateral surfaces, and the proximal and distal articular surfaces.

The plantar surface provides an insertion site for the tibialis posterior muscle and attachment sites for the plantar tarsometatarsal ligaments.
