Description

The plantar (inferior) surface is the rough area on the lower aspect of the medial cuneiform bone. It is one of the six surfaces of the medial cuneiform bone, the other five being the dorsal, medial and lateral surfaces, and the proximal and distal articular surfaces.

The plantar surface provides insertion sites for the tibialis posterior and fibularis longus muscles and attachment sites for the plantar tarsometatarsal ligaments.
