Description

The posterior border is the margin found along the posteromedial aspect of the body of ischium. It is one of the three borders of the body of ischium, the other two being the anterior and lateral borders, and it separates the pelvic and dorsal surfaces of body of ischium. It is continuous, superiorly, with the posterior border of ilium.

The posterior border of body of ischium consists of the lesser sciatic notch and ischial spine, and its superior end contributes to the formation of the greater sciatic notch, which is completed by the posterior border of ilium.
