Description

The posterior surface (dorsal surface) of scapula is the convex area on the posterior aspect of the bone. It is one of two surfaces of the scapula, the other being the costal surface.

The dorsal surface of scapula consists of the spine of the scapula, which separates its supraspinous and infraspinous fossae. It provides origin sites for the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor, teres major, and deltoid muscles, and an insertion site for the trapezius muscle.
