Description

The posterior surface of ulna is the area on the posterolateral aspect of the body of ulna. It is one of the three surfaces of the body of ulna, the other two being the anterior and medial surfaces. It is an area that is bounded:

—anterolaterally, by both the interosseous border of ulna and the supinator crest;

—posteriorly, by the posterior border of ulna.

The posterior surface of ulna provides origin sites for the extensor indicis, extensor pollicis longus, and abductor pollicis longus muscles. It also provides an insertion site for the anconeus muscle.
