Description

The proximal part (end) of radius is the slightly expanded, superior portion of the bone. It is continuous inferiorly with the body of the radius. It contains the head and neck of the radius and the radial tuberosity.

The proximal part of radius articulates with the:

—humerus, forming the humeroradial joint;

—ulna, forming the proximal radioulnar joint.

Both of these joints contribute to the formation of the elbow joint.
