Description

The proximal part (proximal end) of ulna is the largely broader, hook-like, superior portion of the bone. It is continuous inferiorly with the body of ulna. It consists of articular and non-articular portions:

—the articular portion contains the trochlear and radial notches;

—the non-articular portion contains the olecranon, coronoid process, sublime tubercle, and part of the supinator crest.

The trochlear notch articulates with the trochlea of the humerus, forming the humeroulnar joint, contributing to the formation of the elbow joint. The radial notch articulates with the articular circumference of head of radius, forming the proximal radioulnar joint.
