Description

The spiral line is the rough margin located along the upper posteromedial aspect of the body of femur. It is the superior continuation of the medial lip of linea aspera, spirals in a superomedial direction to become continuous with the intertrochanteric line, and separates the posterior and medial surfaces of femur.

The spiral line provides an origin site for the vastus medialis muscle.
