Description

The superior surface of clavicle is the smooth, subcutaneous area on the upper aspect of the bone. It is one of the two surfaces of the clavicle, the other being the inferior surface. It is an area that is bounded:

—anteriorly, by the anterior border of clavicle;

—posteriorly, by the posterior border of clavicle.

The superior surface of clavicle provides an origin site for the clavicular head of sternocleidomastoid muscle.
