Description

The anterior surface (facial surface) is the area found along the anterolateral aspect of the maxilla. It is one of five surfaces of the maxilla, the other four being the infratemporal, orbital, nasal and palatine surfaces.

The anterior surface consists of the canine eminence, canine fossa, and the infraorbital foramen. It provides origin sites for the levator labii superioris alaeque nasi, levator anguli oris, levator labii superioris, nasalis, depressor septi nasi, and orbicularis oris muscles.
