Description

The articular facet is the smooth, oval area found along the tubercle of the fourth rib. It articulates with the transverse costal facet of the fourth thoracic vertebra, forming the fourth costotransverse joint.

Overall, these articular facets on tubercles are only present on the first to tenth ribs, while the eleventh and twelfth ribs lack this bony feature.
