The articular facet is the smooth, oval area found along the tubercle of the second rib. It articulates with the transverse costal facet of the second thoracic vertebra, forming the second costotransverse joint.
Overall, these articular facets on tubercles are only present on the first to tenth ribs, while the eleventh and twelfth ribs lack this bony feature.
