Description

The head of the third rib contains two articular facets.

- The superior articular facet articulates with the inferior costal facet of the second thoracic vertebra, forming the lower part of the joint of the head of the third rib.

- The inferior articular facet articulates with the superior costal facet of the third thoracic vertebra, forming the upper part of the joint of the head of the third rib.
