Description
The asterion is a craniometric point found along the lateral aspect of the cranium. It is formed by the occipital, parietal and temporal bones and is located at the area where the lambdoid, occipitomastoid and parietomastoid sutures meet.
The asterion is the location site for the mastoid (posterolateral) fontanelle in infants.
