Description

The body (shaft) of fourth rib is the long, curved part of the bone that extends from its neck to its costal end. It is flattened in appearance, where it has external and internal surfaces and superior and inferior borders.

The body of fourth rib consists of the costal groove and the angle, and provides attachment sites for the intercostal muscles.
