Description

The external surface is the convex area found along the outer aspect of the body of the mandible. It is one of two surfaces of the body of the mandible, the other being the internal surface.

The external surface consists of the mental foramen, mental protuberance, mental tubercle and the oblique line of the mandible. It provides origin sites for the depressor anguli oris and depressor labii inferioris muscles.
