Description
The frontal process is the thick, superior projection found on the upper aspect of the zygomatic bone. The frontal process:
—consists of the orbital tubercle and the anteroinferior portion of the temporal fossa;
—provides attachment sites for the lateral palpebral ligament and temporal fascia;
—contributes to the formation of the lateral wall of the orbit;
—articulates superiorly with the zygomatic process of frontal bone, forming the frontozygomatic suture;
—articulates posteromedially with the zygomatic margin of the greater wing of sphenoid bone, forming the sphenozygomatic suture.
