Description

The head of ninth rib is the round, expanded, posterior part of the bone. It is the medial continuation of its neck.

It consists of superior and inferior articular facets, which are separated from each other by its crest. These articular facets articulate with the bodies of the adjacent thoracic vertebrae, forming the joint of the head of the ninth rib.
