Description

The inferior annular epiphysis (inferior epiphyseal ring) is the raised, smooth, outer edge on the lower aspect of the body of a thoracic vertebra.

Overall, the superior and inferior annular epiphyses provide attachment sites for the intervertebral discs. Adjacent vertebral bodies articulate with each other via intervertebral discs, forming the intervertebral symphysis joints.
