The inferior articular facets are the smooth, flat, anteroinferiorly facing articular areas on the inferior articular processes of a typical cervical vertebra. They articulate with the corresponding superior articular facets of the vertebra below, forming zygapophyseal joints.

It is composed of cartilages, ligamentous membranes and muscles and lies opposite the third to sixth cervical vertebrae in the anterior part of the neck, between the hyoid bone above and the trachea below.
