Description

The inferior temporal line is a curved ridge found along the external surface of the parietal bone. It is located inferior to the superior temporal line and runs parallel to it.

The inferior temporal line is the posteroinferior continuation of the temporal line of the frontal bone. It extends posteriorly from the frontal border of the parietal bone and then curves in a posteroinferior direction towards the mastoid angle, where it becomes continuous with the supramastoid crest of the temporal bone. It provides an origin site for the temporalis muscle and forms the posterosuperior boundary of the temporal fossa.
