Description

The infratemporal crests are the horizontal ridges found along the lateral aspects of both the right and left greater wings of the sphenoid bone. On its corresponding side, each infratemporal crest:

—separates a superiorly located temporal surface from an inferiorly located infratemporal surface;

—provides an origin site for a superior head of lateral pterygoid muscle.
