Description

The internal surface is the concave area found along the inner aspect of the body of the mandible. It is one of two surfaces of the body of the mandible, the other being the external surface.

The internal surface consists of the mylohyoid line, sublingual fossa, submandibular fossa, and the superior and inferior mental spines. It provides origin sites for the mylohyoid, geniohyoid and genioglossus muscles.
