Description
The internal surface (inner surface) of eighth rib is its smooth, concave, inner area. It is one of the two surfaces of the body of the eighth rib, the other being the external surface.
The internal surface of eighth rib consists of the costal groove, which is located on its inferior edge, adjacent to the ribs inferior border. It provides an origin site for the subcostal muscles, an insertion site for the transversus thoracis muscle, attachment sites for the innermost intercostal muscles, and is covered by endothoracic fascia.
