Description

The internal surface (inner surface) of eleventh rib is its smooth, concave, inner area. It is one of the two surfaces of the body of the eleventh rib, the other being the external surface, and it faces in the superomedial direction.

The internal surface of eleventh rib consists of the costal groove, which is located on its inferior edge, adjacent to the ribs inferior border. It provides an origin site for the respiratory diaphragm, an insertion site for the subcostal muscle, attachment sites for the innermost intercostal muscles, and is covered by endothoracic fascia.
