Description
The internal surface (inner surface) of ninth rib is its smooth, concave, inner area. It is one of the two surfaces of the body of the ninth rib, the other being the external surface.
The internal surface of ninth rib consists of the costal groove, which is located on its inferior edge, adjacent to the ribs inferior border. It provides an insertion site for the subcostal muscles, attachment sites for the innermost intercostal muscles, and is covered by endothoracic fascia.
