Description
The internal surface (inner surface) of twelfth rib is its smooth, concave, inner area. It is one of the two surfaces of the body of the twelfth rib, the other being the external surface, and it faces in the superomedial direction.
The internal surface of twelfth rib lacks a costal groove. It provides an origin site for the respiratory diaphragm, insertion sites for the innermost intercostal muscle and subcostal muscles, and is covered by endothoracic fascia.
