Description

The lacrimal groove (lacrimal sulcus) is the vertical, deep depression found along the lateral aspect of the lacrimal bone. It is located:

—anterior to the posterior lacrimal crest;

—posteromedial to the lacrimal groove of maxilla;

—superior to the lacrimal process of inferior nasal concha.

The lacrimal groove of lacrimal bone is converted into the nasolacrimal canal by its combination with both the lacrimal groove of the maxilla and the lacrimal process of the inferior nasal concha. This canal allows for the passage of the nasolacrimal duct.
