Description
The lesser horns (lesser cornua) are the two small, conical projections found along the superior aspect of the hyoid bone. On its corresponding side, each lesser horn of hyoid bone:
—extends posterosuperiorly from the junction between the body and greater horn of the hyoid bone;
—provides origin sites for middle pharyngeal constrictor and chondroglossus muscles;
—provides an attachment site for the stylohyoid ligament.
