Description

The mastoid borders (mastoid margins) are the two laterally located margins of the occipital bone. On their corresponding sides, each mastoid border of occipital bone:

—extends anteroinferiorly from the lateral angle to the jugular process;

—articulates with the occipital border of the mastoid part of temporal bone, forming an occipitomastoid suture.
