Description

The median part of sacrum is the centrally located part of the bone. It is formed by the fused bodies, pedicles, laminae, articular processes and spinous process of the five sacral vertebrae. It is one of three parts of the sacrum, the other two being the right and left lateral parts of sacrum.

The median part of sacrum consists of the:

—median and intermediate sacral crests;

—promontory, superior articular processes and transverse ridges;

—sacral canal and sacral hiatus.
