Description

The mental protuberance is the triangular, midline elevation found along the external surface of the body of the mandible. It contributes to the formation of the prominence of the chin and is continuous:

—superiorly with the mandibular symphysis;

—laterally, with the mental tubercles.

The mental protuberance is more pronounced in males than females.
