Description

The mylohyoid grooves (mylohyoid sulci) are the two oblique depressions found along the medial surfaces of each ramus of the mandible. On its corresponding side, each mylohyoid groove:

—extends anteroinferiorly from a mandibular foramen;

—is located posterior to a mylohyoid line;

—lodges a nerve to mylohyoid muscle and mylohyoid branches of inferior alveolar vessels.
