Description

The pelvic surface (anterior surface) of coccyx is the smooth, concave, anterior aspect of the bone. It provides an insertion site for the coccygeus muscles, as well as attachment sites for the anterior sacrococcygeal ligaments. The median and lateral sacral vessels and the caudal ends of the sympathetic trunks travel along this surface.
