The posterior tubercles are the small prominences found on the posterolateral ends of the transverse processes of a typical cervical vertebra. Overall, the posterior tubercles of the cervical vertebrae provide attachment sites for the posterior cervical intertransversarii, iliocostalis cervicis, scalenus medius, scalenus posterior, and levator scapulae muscles.
