Description

The promontory (sacral promontory) is the prominent anterosuperior edge found on the body of the first sacral vertebra. It is located 1 cm posterior to the body’s center of gravity.

The promontory and linea terminalis combine to form the pelvic inlet, which is the distinct bony ridge that separates the greater pelvis from the lesser pelvis.
